Recruiting students! Joint Design Workshop with National Cheng KungUniversity, Taiwan

September 24th, 2019 to February 21st, 2020.

This class following last year was offered a special class “Global Design Project V”, a joint design workshop with NCKU (Tainan, Taiwan) which we had made agreements with on student exchanged academic cooperation. This class focuses on the regional characteristics of Fukuoka City andTainan City. It will explore the issues of the declining birthrate and aging population, not only faced by Japan and Taiwan but also the social problems in the world. Students will understand the similarities and difference in cultures, values and lifestyle habits in the two countries. They will learn field survey methods, service design methods and digital fabrication methods. Also, learning the process of carrying out projects and improving the ability of communication by the global joint members such as the professors and the students from KU and NCKU.
Note: The class will be conducted as one part of EDGE-NEXT.

Contents of workshop:
Under the theme of “Design for convivial communities”, we focused on the lives of the community (mostly elderly people) and proposing design services using IoT technology.
The classes were in English.

-Creating scenarios
-Movies production exercises etc.

February 17-21, 2020   Term3
Venue: Ohashi Campus in Kyushu University
-Final presentation and feedback
-Summarized final outcomes and procedure of the WSetc.

Condition:
・In principle, you must be able to participate from Term 1 to 3.
・Those who are planning to graduate in March 2020 must meet the required graduation or completion credits outside this class.

If there are overwhelming responses, we will conduct a selection.

Target

Around eight students from the undergraduate (Year 2-4) and master course. We welcomestudents who are interested in studying abroad, who want to take classes at foreignuniversities, who are interested in practical international joint projects, and who are interestedin social issues and IoT technology.
