September 4th (Monday)- 8th (Friday), 2017
Lecturer:Miikka Junnila
Time: September 4th (Monday)- 8th (Friday), 2017
Number of participants: 15 people
Theme:
1. “Race to the end” as the goal of the game
2. Pick any digital game
3. The alien in the theme park
4. Co-op Game
The workshop started after an hour-long lecture by Professor Miikka.
The grouping, game creation, test playing, and review were a single set of activities. This set of activities was repeated 4 times over a 5-day period with teams being changed.
The students who participated repeatedly created and test played a game in groups to improve the level of completeness of the game. The amount of time spent creating a single game was approximately 3-4 hours. When the game was created, the groups were instructed not to use time inserting graphics, and the workshop was completely focused on game design.
Participants took turns in test playing so that all of the workshop participants could get some experience with it.
At the end of the workshop, there was a review by the participating students and the lecturer.
The students intensively studied game design and prototyping in the 4 day workshop.
Going forward, we will continue our cooperation with Aalto University in areas like content and media including games.
