Joint workshop with the Royal College of Art (RCA) – Re-Mix

Held in collaboration with the Royal College of Art (RCA), UK, the Re-Mix workshop focused on comprehensive social design.

With comprehensive (inclusive) social design as its theme, the purpose of this project was to gain new expertise related to design innovation education by comparing the teaching methods of our faculty and RCA.

The project was carried out by comparing the results of workshops at the RCA and the Kyushu University Faculty of Design in which lecturers from both schools shared their methods. Seven members of our teaching staff visited the UK in October 2015 to hold the first workshop, using an approach based on RCA teaching methods, with multinational, multidiscipline RCA students enrolled in master’s programs or above. In February 2016, two lecturers from RCA were invited to hold the second workshop at Kyushu University, based on our faculty’s inclusive design methods, for a diverse group of residents and students.
