"Thinking about Design x Business x Intellectual Property" Online Seminar Vol.2

July 15th, 2021

The Faculty of Design, Kyushu University, is pleased to announce the “Thinking about Design x Business x Intellectual Property” online seminar vol. 2.

How are design and business connected? What role does intellectual property play in this? By comprehensively grasping design, business, and intellectual property, the reality of business using design will become clear. In this seminar, we will invite Mr. Seiji Nakaji to talk about the current status of the protection of spatial design from the perspective of corporate legal affairs. Mr. Nakaji is currently active in Kitamura Holdings, Inc., which operates businesses such as “Camera no Kitamura” and “Damaruma Print,” utilizing his experience in corporate legal affairs gained through his activities to protect store designs in the Culture Convenience Club Group, which planned “Daikanyama Tsutaya Books” and “Takeo City Library.”

The Faculty of Design, Kyushu University, plans to reorganize its graduate school in 2022. One of the main features of the reorganization is the realization of a business-integrated design education program that cuts across design, business, and entrepreneurship. The Strategic Design Course in the Department of Design, which leads this movement, aims to develop human resources just like Mr. Nakaji.

We look forward to your participation!
