10th Fukuoka Game Contest “GFF AWARD 2017”

The Fukuoka Game Industry Promotion Agency held the 10th Fukuoka Game Contest, “GFF AWARD 2017,” on Saturday, March 11. The guest speakers were Hirokazu Hamamura, a representative of Famitsu, and Shuhei Yoshida of SIE, in charge of the development of PlayStation®VR. The guest speakers also conducted the final judgment of the 10th Fukuoka Game Contest (public presentation). Together with GFF members, they participated in a discussion on the topic of “The Last 10 Years and the Next 10 Years of the Game Industry.” This event was not to be missed by those already working as game creators and those who hoped to become game creators. The judging panel included Associate Professor Hiroyuki Matsuguma of Kyushu University.

Game creator discussion

Guest speakers Shuhei Yoshida of SIE and Famitsu representative Hirokazu Hamamura discussed the topic of “The Last 10 Years and the Next 10 Years of the Game Industry.”

The discussion focused on issues of interest to both those already working as game creators and those who hope to become game creators, such as transitions in the game industry and game development, as well as future trends in the game industry.

10th Fukuoka Game Contest, Final Judgment

The Grand Prize winner from among the teams that passed the secondary judging stage from among 253 entries – the most entries received in the history of the contest – was announced at a public presentation!

Judges: Shuhei Yoshida, Hirokazu Hamamura, Akihiro Hino, Hiroshi Matsuyama, Chikako Yamakura

Fukuoka’s own “Fukuoka Model Team” will also participate in an exhibition match, which will be decided by a visitor vote.

*Visitors were able to play all the games entered in the contest at the venue.

A Grand Prize and Excellence Award Ceremony was also held for the Game Character category entries and the Game Software category entries.
