A Seminar and Exhibition related to the Re-mix Project that is an International Collaboration done with the Royal College of Art

Since August of 2015, the Royal College of Art and Kyushu University’s Graduate School of Design’s Global Design Education Research Center have worked on the collaborative international Re-mix project that uses design and innovation techniques, and this project involves these institutions dispatching staff to each other, holding a joint workshop, authoring papers, and holding a joint exhibition.
We held a seminar and exhibition at the International Design Liaison Center as part of this project.
Design processes that are represented by the likes of design thinking are currently expanding, but there are also a wide variety of other design processes that exist. We started the Re-mix project with the idea that we would observe each other’s design processes and learn many things by thoroughly investigating the characteristics of our processes. In this project, we compared and analyzed the processes and results produced by the colleges in both Fukuoka and London in a design workshop that was held for about a week. At the exhibition, the expertise obtained from the ideas produced at the workshop will be visually communicated in a manner that would be easy to understand, and we demonstrated new possibilities that came from exchanges between people with different design processes. Additionally, in the seminar, a discussion was held between academic and industry panelists whose work had the keyword “Re-mix” about design techniques that transcend the traditional mindsets.
