Magazine “Children’s Science” November Issue: Papercraft Earwig

Kazuya Saito, an instructor from Kyushu University Faculty of Design, collaborated with researchers from The Oxford University Museum of Natural History. They discovered that the complex folding patterns of earwigs, which folds its wings in the most compact manner among all insects, can be made into a diagram using a very simple geometry rule (details here).

The papercraft earwig was designed based on the findings. It will come as a free gift on the November issue of “Children’s Science,” which will go on sale from Seibundo-Shinkosha.
