On-campus seminar "Conference on how the NFT market is for creators"

July 15th, 2021

The Kyushu University Faculty of Design held an internal seminar,  “Conference to Consider What the NFT Market Means for Creators.

In recent years, the NFT market has been expanding on a global scale. In the art world as well, digital works are being traded as one-of-a-kind items. Moreover, there are cases where the price is relatively high. For creators who are not familiar with the business, NFT is a new technology to watch. Can we create a situation where we can continue our creative activities for the rest of our lives by utilizing NFT? Before that, what exactly is NFT? We held a conference to think about what NFT means for creators to solve these questions. We invited Mr. Daito Manabe, one of the first to work on NFT art and is a strong leader in the media art field, to the conference. In addition, we discussed with Sadam Fujioka, who had been involved in various art activities, to deepen our discussion on the NFT market, media art, and the future of creators’ activities.

Speakers
Daito Manabe
Founder of Rhizomatiks, artist, programmer, DJ.
Established Rhizomatiks in 2006.
He creates works by reinterpreting and combining familiar phenomena and materials from different perspectives. Rather than aiming for rich expressions such as high resolution and high realism, he focuses on the intrinsic interest of phenomena, the body, programming, and computers themselves that can be discovered through careful observation, as well as the relationship and boundaries between analog and digital, real and virtual, and works in various fields.

Sadam Fujioka
Sadam Fujioka is a media artist, designer, and researcher living in Fukuoka, and the president of anno lab.
His theme is the creation of interactions that stimulate intellectual curiosity. He strives to create creative works that make people “move” out of enjoyment, leading to new perspectives, actions, interests, and thoughts.
In August 2020, he opened “The Museum of Heterogeneous Nature and People,” the first permanent art museum in the anno lab in Bungo Takada, Oita Prefecture.
