K2 Winter School and Symposium Report

the reports on “K2 Winter School 2017” and “K2 Symposium 2017,” which were held from February 13 to 18 to kick off the K2 Design Lab that started in 2017. We also published a 148-page brochure entitled ”K2 Dialogues 01 Envisioning Urban Futures.”
The topic of “K2 Dialogues 01” is “Fukuoka 2030.” The processes of holding workshops on designing future cities, methodologies, ways of thinking and a final proposal, are described. Lecturers include Bryan Boyer (Dash Marshall), who practices a new style of urban and administration design; Prof. Barry Katz (Stanford University, California College of Arts), who is known for research on the history of Silicon Valley design; and Prof. Kun-pyo Lee (KAIST), who proposed “Design 3.0,” a new design paradigm; a panel discussion is also described. This brochure suggests new directions in design and is aimed at not just people involved in design but also people in government and industry.
