At the Robert Fan/Entrepreneurship Center (Kyushu University, Kyushu University Business School, Kyushu University Faculty of Design), we held the Third Seminar for the Future of Design x Business x Entrepreneurship, “Society’s Problems (WHY) and Innovation (HOW) Realized through ‘Evolutionary Thought’”.
[Topic]
“Evolutionary thought” is a proposal from Eisuke Tachikawa, a designer who researches the essence of design and innovation with the process of biological evolution. We will learn its ways of observing relationships from a biological standpoint and its patterns of “mutation” for creating limitless ideas, allowing us to deepen our understanding of the phenomenon that is design. Tachikawa is active worldwide and has worked on a variety of projects confronting social problems, including with Tokyo Disaster Prevention, the Baystars, the city of Shizuoka, and Cool Japan. Just what is this “power of conception” born of the evolution of living things that his theory describes?
