The Launch of "Design Initiative for Diversity & Inclusion."

The Faculty of Design, Kyushu University, is pleased to announce the launch of the Design Initiative for Diversity and Inclusion this April 2021.

Social inclusion is a term used to describe a society in which the existence of all people, including those who have been inhibited by society due to disability, poverty, race, nationality, or sexual orientation, is respected. To realize such an inclusive society, we need to design goods, things, services, and social systems in a different way than before. It is also essential to design these as an integrated “system” and implement it in society. The Design Initiatives for Diversity & Inclusion is an educational research institute that leads the way in creating a society that generates healthy growth and new values of affluence by providing services that meet diverse needs and designing a “system” to draw out the potential of individuals.

The Design Initiatives for Diversity & Inclusion is an organization that promotes collaboration among researchers and plays the role of a think tank.  It serves as a hub for industry, academia, government, and the private sector, in order to design the “systems” of care and employment in local communities, which are composed of goods, things, services, and social systems, in an integrated manner under the new concept of an inclusive society.  It also operates them appropriately. To achieve this goal, the Design Initiatives for Diversity & Inclusion will carry out its activities with a constant awareness of the interconnectedness of research, education, practice, and advocacy.
