A Day the World Evolves. SDGs Design LIVE SDGs Design International Awards 2020 Presentation and Award Ceremony

The final presentation and award ceremony for the SDGs Design International Awards 2020 (SDGs Awards) was held November 10, 2020, in a fully online format that could be viewed by tens of thousands of people, as befits a new era of SDG awards. A wealth of content also was available, including a collaboration with Fukuoka City.

The aim of the SDGs Awards is to encourage young people through soliciting design ideas from students around the world that will lead to the achievement of the SDGs goals and giving recognition to the best entries. These ideas created by young people will be shared with people around the world so that their ideas can be realized to create a sustainable society.

This year’s theme for the second award is “Overcoming the Pandemic, Design for Evolution,” calling for a wide range of ideas, including those that can be used immediately to respond to this unprecedented crisis, ways of living and working after the coronavirus era, and proposals for social systems and international cooperation. The number of applications totaled 184 from 16 countries.

In collaboration with Avex, the festival was opened by SKY-HI, a popular musician with strong support from the youth, who performed an original theme song to launch the festival and maked it “a festival accessible to students around the world.”
